To Be Used Forget
About Being Used
Did I hear you say, 'excuse me?'
Yes, I said it.
Now here's what I mean. Many believers today are all out
looking for how to be used greatly of God. But unfortunately while doing this,
they overlook the false motives underlining their desire.
First, we must understand that long before we were born, God
already sought to use us. He had always sought men and women in every
generation to use for His glory. Jer 1;5, Is 45:21
But there is what He seeks for in the man he chooses to use.
2 Chronicles 16:9 KJV
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole
earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect
toward him...
Psalm 89:20 KJV
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I
anointed him:
Take a study through scriptures, you won't find the men and
women used greatly of God going about praying to God to be used. They simply
stayed committed to someone or something and boom! They get used mightily.
He sought Moses at the back side of the desert. He sought
David in the bush. He sought out Abraham from a pagan country. He got Paul's
attention on the road to Damascus.
So for me, being used requires well-defined commitment.
In our days, God is seeking men and women committed to a
personal relationship with Him.
God seeks worshippers. John 4:24. Worshipping is not just
about singing and lifting 'holy hands'. It's basically about commitment, a
commitment to an unbroken relationship with the Father, not a cunning crave to
tap into heavenly resources for personal aggrandizement. Remember the guy in
the Book of Acts who got obsessed with being used of God?
Acts 8:18-21 KJV
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles'
hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, [19] Saying, Give me also
this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. [20]
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought
that the gift of God may be purchased with money. [21] Thou hast neither part
nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
God seeks those who will simply hang around him for who He
is. He wants to see us hang around to do whatever He bids no matter how
demeaning or sacrificial it is. He wants us to die totally to self ambitions.
In a nutshell, He wants loyal servants, not anointed gospel
merchants. Today, many are simply after the fame. They see the glamour of true
God-servants and the strong backing they enjoy, but ignore the heart
circumcision they endured.
It won't work that way.
Therefore to be used of God begins with forgetting about
being used mightily.. instead, Seek to love Him. Seek to know Him. Seek to trust Him.
There's no point climbing up a ladder only to discover it leaned against the
wrong wall. You will never find God just craving to manifest power.
God's priority about those to use is the commitment of
relationship.
John 14:16-18 KJV
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another
Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [17] Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. [18] I will not
leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
In the above scriptures God was more concerned about their
relationship with the Carrier of His power than even the power itself. It was
about the Person, before the power.
Therefore, when you become a God-confidant by
relationship, then you will get used by him in manifestation.
So, forget about being used. Just seek commitment to a
divine relationship. Love Him. Serve Him. Acknowledge Him. Trust Him. Seek Him.
Because you are not trusted until you are tested.
